By the looks of it, whatever wrote that source file originally replaced the " (double quote) and ' (single quote) with more fancy ones and they are being seen as identifiers or parts of identifiers.
Go through and replace all "s and 's with the standard ones (backspace and type out a new one) and hopefully it should work.
Any samples given are not meant to have error checking or show best practices. They are meant to just illustrate a point. I may also give inefficient code or introduce some problems to discourage copy/paste coding. This is because the major point of my posts is to aid in the learning process.
